Days have been warm in the valley as spring seems to be coming on strong. However still lots of snow at the trailheads and fresh snow up the mountain. March is statistically our month with most precipitation and that means lots of snow in the highcountry and that's exactly what is happening now. Great spring sledding has begun with 20 to 30cm new snow and more forecast up high. March is the month to get your sledding on! Wednesday, March 10, 2010 13:53
Winter is back as temps drop considerably and fresh snow has fallen up to 40cm in some places. It looks a lot more like early spring sledding than late spring sledding as more snow is forecast into the weekend. Fresh pow and long days begin the some of the best riding of the season yet to come...as spring weather bring in meters of snow. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 12:36
Last weekend was epic riding in all areas with fresh, fat and ripe spring snow. This weekend looks to offer the same. Monday, March 22, 2010 11:44
Another great weekend of riding in the Valemount areas with fresh snow for all.
Two simple lessons, once again, get illustrated at the BIS in Revy ... PARK IN SAFE PLACES and sign up for Avalanche Skills Training. Snowfarmers sends a big thanks and recognition to those sledders on the scene who searched, probed and shoveled to successfully free the buried. Even the best prepared and experienced professionals cannot always predict or prevent an avalanche event...however they are highly trained to react with skill. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 10:14
Snowing heavily in the valley this morning with snow accumulating in the highcountry over this past week. Typical spring conditions...as once again the fattening is delivered to the hills and sledding is far from over. With convective shower activity storm snow is variable with significant wind loading in the lee. Spring storm snows typically settle quickly but daytime temps have remained cool so @ 2000m there it is another 30cm to 50cm of powder to ride and more forecast...spring on April bring it all...and long days.
Storm snows take time to settle and the hot spring sun quickly radiates huge energy deep into the snowpack creating increased instability in new and well preserved old layers. Park in safe places keeping track of your buddies... while riding to reduce your exposure in avalanche terrain. Monday, April 5, 2010 12:18
It's all about the spring fattening...and farmers are wallowing in it...and yes we've added some video so you can taste it!!!
This winter, in Valemount alone, Zacs Tracs has been successful at training hundreds of riders, empowering them with avalanche awareness and lifesaving self rescue skills. It doesn't matter how many successful seasons you've been mountain riding, or where you carry your beacon and shovel...you have 11 minutes to get your partner breathing...you CANNOT learn skills like this from your friends...you need to be trained by experts in Avalanche Skills Training.
Mountain riding is serious adventure. Friends and family should be aware and get recreational avalanche training. Awareness and self rescue save lives!.

Parking area is bare and some ground is beginning to show on the trails. Grooming operations are continuing from the trailhead however warm spring snow and rain can make grooming difficult . Check with VARDA for grooming schedule
Trai is no longer groomed, however there is still snowcaver. Upper sections of the creek trail approach to open alpine can be icy and recommended for experienced riders only!
